Bienville and Lincoln Parishes, Louisiana

Bienville Parish was originally part of the Territory of Orleans, known as the Catholic Parish of St Francis. In 1805 it became part of the new Natchitoches County (later changed to "Parish" in 1807). In 1828 Natchitoches was divided and a portion became Claiborne Parish.
On March 14, 1848 the Southern portion of Claiborne created today's Bienville Parish, named after The Father of Louisiana, Jean Baptist Le Moyne, Bieville.
In 1873, a portion of Bienville Parish was used to create Lincoln Parish.
